Veteran rock powerhouse Foreigner are pulling out all the stops for its golden anniversary, with a full slate of special projects and tour dates announced for 2026. The celebration will feature a new lead vocalist, reunion performances with the original frontman, a documentary, and a jukebox musical.

The 50th-anniversary events include:

A major lineup change Longtime frontman Kelly Hansen is leaving the band at the end of the 2025 summer tour, with his replacement, guitarist Luis Maldonado, stepping up as the new lead vocalist.

Return of the original vocalist Original singer Lou Gramm will reunite with the group for selected songs during the 50th-anniversary activities.

Commemorative concerts Foreigner will perform a series of orchestral concerts in March 2026, alongside a 20-piece orchestra, reinterpreting their biggest hits.

Anniversary film The celebration kicked off with an intimate, filmed performance at Ellis Island in New York City in September 2025, which will be featured in a forthcoming documentary.

New musical A jukebox musical based on the band's songs, Feels Like The First Time — The Foreigner Musical, is set to premiere in April 2026.

Band founder and guitarist Mick Jones, who hasn't toured since 2023 due to his Parkinson's disease diagnosis, remains a member and has given his full endorsement to the band's continuation.

Despite the change in vocalists, bassist Jeff Pilson expressed enthusiasm for the new chapter. "This is creating a unified front," Pilson told Billboard, adding that the new direction has the full support of both Jones and Gramm.

With a new era dawning and their history firmly in the spotlight, Foreigner is giving fans plenty to look forward to in their 50th year.

In a May 2025 statement, Jones reflected on the band's history, the contributions of lead vocalists Kelly Hansen, and expressed confidence in incoming singer Luis Maldonado.

He stated his goal in 1976 was to assemble the finest musicians and felt fortunate in choosing Hansen, who breathed new life into their songs over twenty years.

Jones also highlighted Maldonado as his choice for guitarist and someone who has shown his vocal capabilities, predicting he will lead the band to new heights.

In May 2025, Hansen announced his departure after 20 years, stating he was passing the vocal role to Luis Maldonado.

He described being the voice of Foreigner as a great honor but felt it was time to hand off the mic, believing Maldonado has the voice, energy, and soul to carry the songs forward
