Everybody Scream, the sixth studio album from Florence + The Machine, is scheduled for release on October 31, 2025. Florence Welch wrote and produced the album over two years, exploring themes of healing and physical limitations following emergency surgery during the 2023 Dance Fever tour.
The album also touches on spiritual mysticism, folk horror, womanhood, partnership, aging, and death. Welch describes this exploration as "exposing the murky in the mundane".
Inspiration and Themes
Welch's surgery and recovery prompted a reflection on her body's constraints and her relationship with performing, influencing the album's themes of spiritual mysticism and folk horror.
Collaborations and Musical Style
The album features collaborations with musicians such as Mark Bowen of IDLES, Mitski, and Aaron Dessner of The National. Welch noted that these collaborations helped guide her artistic direction for the album.
Insights from Florence Welch
In an interview, Welch discussed her creative process:
She spoke about overcoming her inclination to delay the album's release, saying she challenged herself to "move through the fear".
Welch described the album as both her "most personal record to date" and her "most mythological," requiring her to build a "world" around it.
Regarding the single "Everybody Scream," Welch explained it addresses the emotional cost of being an artist and the compulsion to return to performing despite the toll it takes.
Album Promotion and Release
Welch began hinting at the album in July 2025 through social media, sharing a mood board that included themes such as "witchcraft, folk horror, mysticism, magic, poetry [and] insanity". The release date of October 31 was confirmed in August 2025
